Managing bookmarks on a web browser is not always very efficient. If you want an easier way to save and organize your favorite web contents, then you should have a look at URL Gather. Its functionality is simple, but quite convenient. You can sort URLs in folders and sub-folders just like in Windows Explorer and open their corresponding websites on the fly.

The software is absolutely free and it is compatible with all popular Windows versions. It comes in a small package and it can be installed in under a minute. You don't have to install any prerequisite tools and you won't sacrifice too many resources.

The user interface is laid out like an Explorer window. You may create folders and folders in a tree structure, on the left side and store URLs in the larger area on the right. Folders and URLs can be added by clicking a series of icons on a toolbar. When creating a new URL entry, you only need to paste the actual URL, type in a name and a description, on a small window.

Stored URLs can be opened immediately, just by double clicking them. By default, the program will open your URLs with Internet Explorer, but you can set up a different default browser if you wish to.

URL Gather provides other useful features as well. For example, you can password protect the database, if you wish to keep your URLs private. Furthermore, the software comes with duplicate finding capabilities, so you can make sure each URL is unique and keep your database well organized.

If your browser's bookmarking capabilities are not to your liking, then URL Gather is something you should try.

Pros

You can organize URLs in folders and sub-folders. The software can find and eliminate duplicates and it lets you password-protect your URLs.

Cons

A quick URL grabbing method, like a clipboard manager, would be a welcomed feature.
